British Phantom Av Grp XV490 and ZE360 pictures
A great story I read in the forum: viewtopic.php?f=81&t=147413&p=945888#p945888
about plans to restore a number of Phantoms in the UK! Here some photos when there were roaring active in the European Skies!

Re: British Phantom Av Grp XV490 and ZE360 pictures
Thanks for posting. These are quite rare shots.
Mr Mike Davey (the owner of the XV490 cockpit) says that he has never seen the first two before. Also Dave Gledhill (one of our members who is ex-XV490 Nav) may be able to provide more info.
PM sent.

Re: British Phantom Av Grp XV490 and ZE360 pictures
Many thanks to Gerrit for sending us copies of the pics.
One of the chaps from the 74 Squadron Association had an interesting comment about the pic of ZE360-
"I notice is that she is still in her US paint in that pic and if the date is correct, which I don't doubt it is, then 360 went through a major service and was repainted a year or so before she was sent to Manston".
Meaning that the paint it wears at the moment is the only paintjob that the RAF did on it, the previous paint (although it is RAF colours) was done in the US before it left for the UK.

Mean this one? Found this one in my collection, october 20th 1993. Autumn holidays, train to Venlo and then rent a bike to cycle to Bruggen... the good old "young, dumb and broke" days

The xv485 at Bruggen got ser 9106M and was used for BDRT and eventually scrapped 22-2-2000
Re: British Phantom Av Grp XV490 and ZE360 pictures
According to a couple of our members, there were six F-4 airframes at Bruggen- XV425, XV475, XV481, XV485 and ZE357 were all present, used as BDR and decoys and XV569 was on the fire dump. All were eventually scrapped locally.Stafsels wrote:What ever happend to the three rafg f-4 airframes that were at rafg bruggen atleast till 1999? Some to rescue these?

Hello Slijfie. Thanks for posting that shot, its a rare one. Would you mind if I copied it across to our social media for Mike Davey (XV490's current owner) and Dave Gledhill (former XV490 navigator) to see, please? They may have extra info to contribute.Slijfie wrote:XV490 in much better times at Wildenrath, 17 April 1984. Code H still visible on the tail.
