Al Shabab terrorist organisation claims to have destroyed up to seven airplanes during a terrorist attack on Manda Bay Air Base, Kenya.

Unconfirmed rumours are circulating that a C-146A Wolfhound and a DHC-8-200 may have been destroyed.
Photos from the scene show a DHC-8 parked near a fire and the burned out wreck of a Beech King Air-style T-tail aircraft.

AP is reporting, based on police reports, that a "U.S. Cessna and a Kenya one" were destroyed along with two U.S. helicopters.

The DHC-8 destroyed is reported as N8200L. (edited)

The C-146A may have been 12-3085, which has been flying as MAGMA40 as of late. This is a Africa Det callsign for the 524th.

Magma 40 flew Stuttgart to Tunis this morning. So it wasn’t that one. And over Somalia Magma30 was flying today. But that one might be stationed in Djibouti.

So far, all that is pure speculation. I guess the only thing we can say for sure at this time is that a C-12/Beech 200 fell victim to these terrorists (see the last picture of the original message above).

Online I've seen claims that DHC-8 N8200L was destroyed too. A photo is being circulated as "evidence" on twitter (see the link below). All this photo actually proofs is that some of the sensors on the possible victim were different than those from N8200L. Check out the landing shot. One can easily observe that the sensor outlined in green starts at the red cheatline. In the pictures taken during the attack the green outlined sensor is way below the red cheatline. So there is as at yet no evidence that N8200L was actually involved.

One US serviceman, and two DoD contractors died in the attack, has been confirmed by Africom just now.
“6 civilian contractor aircraft were damaged to some degree”.

The green box is indeed off. But in general, is there any other aircraft with these specifics and colors than 8200L? Add the sidepod camera as shown in some of the pictures as additional hint.

According FAA they have two: N8200L and N8200R. The R has inverted cheatline colours from the L (from pics on the web). If these are the only two, then the L was involved. Frankly, from the pic on twitter during the attack, it looks like the sensor in the green box isn't there at all.

US sends rapid deployment force to Kenya after military base attack kills 3

A U.S. military rapid response team has been deployed to a military base in Manda Bay, Kenya
after an attack there by the Somalia-based terrorist group Al-Shabaab
killed a U.S. service member and two Pentagon contractors on Sunday morning,
according to a statement from U.S. Africa Command.

The team, the East Africa Response Force (EARF) is supposed to secure the airfield at the base, AFRICOM explained in its Monday statement.

Army Maj. Gen. William Gayler, director of operations for AFRICOM,
said EARF gives commanders the ability to respond swiftly to a range of crises in the region,
including the protection of U.S. citizens, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.
