Re: 3rd CAB helicopters outbound Europe
I once again updated the 3 CAB overview on page2 in the new light that 14 Apaches changed units during this deployment.

Re: 3rd CAB helicopters outbound Europe
Hi All
As not all helicopters will make a stop at Eindhoven (some will fly directly to Rotterdam), I am looking into possibilities to have a look at the Waalhaven. From what I gather, the helo's will land somewhere near the Uniport but it is unclear which place. So i marked the possibilties on this map. Possible lookout point is marked with the "little man".
Best scenario is of course the blue line. For the red or green option you need to move back more but the view is quite blocked there because of the containers.
Your views ?

Re: 3rd CAB helicopters outbound Europe
My Guess is the blue line Frank as they want to avoid to fly over buildings.. but this is al guessing.
and how is the view on uniport ? i understood they placed some containers already.. but is that close to the point you are ? because then they will fly in pretty close i would say.

I checked yesterday, the container wall is at the MRS location. This location was also used last year for the rolling equipment and containers.dinovandoorn wrote:My Guess is the blue line Frank as they want to avoid to fly over buildings.. but this is al guessing.

Re: 3rd CAB helicopters outbound Europe
A more realistic route would be this:
Over the Oude Maas, passing in between Barendrecht and Rhoon and then straight in to Waalhaven, minimising noise over populated areas.

Re: 3rd CAB helicopters outbound Europe
Hey Frank,
The part where it says 'MRS' and presumably the south side of that quay is a likely mooring place.
My reasoning for positions is exactly the same.
The northwest corner has a huge parking lot and you can walk along the sidewalk visible on the left side of your screencap all the way from the beginning of the blue arrow to your 'little man'
.
Alternative spot could be to the left of where the green arrow point ends, that road leads to the far side of that pier too (despite streetview stopping halfway).
Last time, at the more westerly mooring, they followed the Nieuwe Maas and turned over open water (blue arrow-type approach).
Red and green arrow means crossing (active) cranes at harbour areas, they'd probably want to avoid those.

If I'm not mistaken last time the Endurance was moored on the northern quay of MRS.EvD wrote:Hey Frank,
