Re: IDF-AF to excersise in Germany #bluewings2020
Fighter jets belonging to the Israeli Air Force are bound for Germany in the coming week to take part in a symbolic
memorial event and joint military exercises, the German air force said on Thursday.
"To commemorate the 1972 Olympics attack, a German-Israeli formation will fly over the Fuerstenfeldbruck airbase on 18.08.2020," the Luftwaffe said in Berlin.
At the Olympic Games in Munich that year, 11 Israeli athletes were taken hostage by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September. Two were killed soon afterwards and the other nine died in a botched rescue attempt at Fuerstenfeldbruck, located near the southern city.
"The return flight passes the outskirts of Dachau. Afterwards, the German-Israeli delegation will lay a wreath at the concentration camp memorial site there and commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and the tyranny of National Socialism," the German air force added.
Over 200,000 people from across Europe were imprisoned at the Dachau camp outside Munich during World War II. Some 41,500 were murdered, according to the memorial website.
The Israeli aircraft are scheduled to arrive in Germany on Monday.
Luftwaffe chief of staff Ingo Gerhartz had extended the invitation to Israel during visits to the country, the air force said.
The Luftwaffe participated in drills in Israel and now the Israeli side is to take part in the "Blue Wings 2020" exercise, set to last
just under two weeks.

Is there already something to tell security measures around the airbase? Will there be closed roads? Is it possible to get near the fence at all?
Cheers,

It is still possible to visit. However cars and ladders are prohibited close to the fence.
And police/MP is actively checking that. So please do not try to put your car or ladders at the fence, as that might have negative consequences for all of us. Also, they put of a second fence behind the perimeter fence. They really don’t want us to make pics of aircraft on the ground. So don’t do that. They totally close off that road if people break that rule.

Leave your cars some kilometers away and take all of your stuff with you for a walk. Don’t forget your ID-Cards.
You should expect some German and Israel security persons walking around us.

Does anyone have a good suggestion about where to park your car before taking the walk?

Thx Herby, I assume that will also be applicable for the L495?Herby wrote:From the B264 all streets will blocked by the police. Take a bicycle.
Maybe best to park your car in Rath or Wissersheim and walk/cycle the 3 km to the runway 25 approach?

And have a mouth mask with you.
Just to be sure in case there is a large group of people.

On flugzeugforum it is indicated the tankers arrive on Sunday and pickup the F16s on Monday some where halfway.
And Indictation is the the F16 arrive between 15.00 and 16.00hours (local time?)
