Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Reverse Ops at North Island. Strong easterly winds caused all take off and landings to use runway 11. The landing photos were all shot from the vicinity of the Shelter Island fishing pier. Car alarms went off in large numbers every time a jet came in.
This one showed up on ads-b after it squawked 7700. Safely landed without incident.
Not easy to get this view when 29 is being used.
Later in the afternoon, the weather finally cleared a little

These are all from the beach, over the past 10 days or so...
Check out the Go Pro the backseater mounted on the canopy
3 jamming pods, 2 tanks, and 2 HARMs, only time I've seen that was at Red Flag
'Iceman'?! I'd like to hear how he got THAT call sign
Yet Another new CODsprey..call sign Rudy 35, but no side number painted yet, it's too new
3rd Japanese Osprey I've shot, and rumor control says there are more on the ramp, all waiting for a boat to Japan
MH-47 flying past the new Naval Special Warfare training complex. The buildings in the far background are in Mexico. OLF Ream is down there as well, out of frame to the right
Unmarked Legacy Hornet returning from check flight after maintenance work in the Naval Depot

Very nice! One of my favourite air bases I have ever been too. Four years ago already, hoping to go back there some day!

NASNI is great if you love H-60s, and now, Navy Ospreys. For fighters you have to be lucky and visit when a det is in town. Weeks can and do go by with maybe 1-2 tactical jets/day.

representative sample from the past 2 weeks or so
old school CATM (captive air training missile) on the rail
newer style of Sidewinder on this one
VAQ-136 really likes lugging as many jamming pods as they can fit on their aircraft--note non turning ram turbine on center pod
