some good old thunderstreak and thunderflash stuff
Of course there is lots of "other stuff" , but I hope you will be satisfied with this Topic which is only dedicated to the Streak and the Flash......Bassie76 wrote:Seeing all this old Thunderstreak and Thunderflash stuff I am pretty sure there must also be lot's of 'other' stuff. I am thinking of Dutch T-33s, Hunters, maybe some Sabres. Maybe also worth posting?

Beautiful pics of that Soesterberg Open Week in July 1968. Remember the nice weather that week.

It certainly is a nice move of Reinier to join in !
The Open Week at Soesterberg in July 1968 was an excellent opportunity to watch and photograph Dutch Thunderstreaks in action.A pity I couldn't be there at the time.Nevertheless I found this one in my collection : P-204 and P-189 arriving at Soesterberg on July 4th, 1968

Please note that I didn't make this photograph myself but that I o w n t h e n e g a t i v e of it ,which I added to my collection by swopping; if you know the name of the original photographer ,let me know : I will be glad to mention him here!

That's napalm on the outboard pylons I think.
Mickey
PS: BTW, the picture above is a repost, you posted it in the very first post of this thread.
I like both . Period shots or Streaks and other coldwar jets and really good digital shots. The trick is to stand out and don't shoot the same stuff everybody else is shooting. If the teletijdmachine existed, I'd go back and shoot Streaks with my current gear.bingo20 wrote: some of you won't agree , but personally I rather see one Thunderstreak (taken with a simple camera) twenty times , than twenty of those dull
modern jets and airliners landing one after another and taken with expensive digital equipment !

I'm sorry , Mickey, I didn't realize I posted twice ; is it a crime? That was napalm ,indeed, on the P-229 ; during weekends Thunderstreaks of 314 squadron were on semi-alert , loaded with napalm and/or rockets ;
The Belgian Air Force Thunderflash on the next picture was taken at Bierset on April 30th , 1968 ; photographing these planes was not appreciated by the local Security Force and several minutes later we were taken into custody for a long while :( ; fortunately I managed to keep my film out of their hands in order to be able to show it to you here and now!

No, it's not a crime, but of course I like to see more from your collection ! I will start scanning some of my stuff as well, soon.
Ik durf het bijna niet te vragen... Do you have any pics of P-194? It was my dad's assigned eightyfour when he worked with 311, from '63 to '66.
Cheers!
Mickey
PS: Pics of air-defence grey Starfighters, particularly D-8091 and D-6668 are welcome as well, in the appropriate thread!

Here is one of P-194 that you requested , Mickey !
Note that the wrong U.S.serial number 53-5925 was painted on the tail : it should read : 53-6925. I took it at De Peel in April 1968

P-233 at Eindhoven in 1968 ; thank you, Frits Spangenberg, for taking these superb pictures of operational Dutch Streaks in colour , at the time when most of us only took photos in "black and white"!
