Due to lack of time, my shooting on base Gilze-Rijen continued not before the arrival of 12 F15A of 1TFW/27TFS under Coronet Sidewinder in 1982...
Upon arrival I was taking operational shots at turn-off point end of rwy 28. Before arrival of the first six aircraft around 2000 hrs local time heavy showers fell but listening to my radio I was happy to hear that they did not divert to UK or Germany...
The 27th Fighter Squadron is the oldest active fighter squadron in the United States Air Force, with over 95 years of service It was organized as the 21st (later 27th) Aero Squadron on 15 June 1917 at Kelly Field, Texas

The first six in order of approach:
FF 75027 cdrs aircraft, 76102, 76091, 75077, 75058, 74103, followed half an hour by: 74130, 76116, 76073, 75019, 74125 and 76084, all yellow fintips.

Coronet Sidewinder enden June 4 and most of the ground equipment and crew went to Soesterberg because 71TFS, another unit of 1TFW, started their deployment at June 7 over there.

It's time to continue this topic, going through the 8ties in big steps... bringing me the summer of 1984 when the Tactical Air Meet took place in June.
I was able to go there only once so the June 28 was the day. Hundreds of spotters at the beginning of runway 28 outside the field. Weather was very cloudy and sometimes the sun gave the Kodachrome some work to do... Fortunately with two camera's very nice black/white shots could be taken on base.
Very nice area's were the old revetmens n/e on the base and at the other side n/w the old dispersals in the woods... and not to forget the southerly taxiway.
