They start to fly at 13.00LT, but before 13.00LT you can expect also some flights.
For tomorrow you can expect mainly AMC stuff and at the moment are 2 C-130H from texas ANG TDY at Ramstein.

Ramstein

I would like to go spotting at Ramstein next week Thursday and Friday (14 & 15th) From what I learned August 15th is not a public holiday in that part of Germany - is this correct and does this mean that flying will be uninterrupted ? Also believe the main runway is still being worked at - is this correct and are there enough spotting opportunities at the spare (old) runway ? Any suggestions re a cheap hotel / youth hostel in the neighbourhood ? cheers , Galaxy

For Ramstein holidays are not important, if transport is required to fulfill operations, they fly (even on Christmas). Beside that, Ramstein is USAF and not German. If you like to stay in a pleasant and cheap hotel, visit Pension Schuff
Kaiserstrasse 56
66862 Kindsbach
0049-63712601

This is above the Sparkasse bank, it is a very decant hotel for not to much money.
kind regards Maarten

Holidays ARE to some extend important. On both German and US BANK holidays, they have quiet hours till 13.00 local.

So check the offcial sites for these days, and you know if there will be quiet hours or not. But during "our normal holiday season", they keep on flying like normal days....

On monday 4 august 2008 (about 16.00-18.00h) we were at Ramstein and it was very, very quiet. There were only 3 C-17A's on the ramp and one C-5. A Mississippi C-17 arrived.
There were 13 Ramstein C-130E's present on the ramp.
When we wanted to leave a formation of 3 RS Hercs came flying in making touch&go's. Just after this German Police in a van came to us asking for passports and drivinglicense.

This is what we saw, additions/corrections are very welcome!

37AS C-130E:
63-7884/RS on ramp
62-1835/RS on ramp
63-7825/RS on ramp
64-0527/RS on ramp
62-1847/RS on ramp
63-7792/RS on ramp
63-7897/RS on ramp
63-7840/RS making several overshoots
64-18240/RS '86AW' making several overshoots
70-1264/RS making several overshoots

+6 'RS' C-130E unread on ramp

84-0085 C-21A 76AS landed
78-0701/SP OA-10A 81FS/52FW overshoot
79-0207/SP OA-10A 81FS/52FW overshoot

03-3118 C-17A 183AS/MS ANG arrival
05-5144 C-17A 452AMW on ramp
05-5145 C-17A 452AMW on ramp
1x C-17A 62AW on ramp
1x C-5 68AS/433AW on ramp

Any help on the 6 unread RS Hercs and the 62 AW C-17 and 68AS C-5 are very welcome.

An undisclosed An-124 was expected on Sunday flying in two H-60's; I guess these were the ones.
