East Asia trip (photo): Taiwan day 5 (Hualien)

Can you confirm the first camo F-5 as 5418? There are only 2 birds flying in that colors (one E and one F) and I saw both, but could only read 5272.
He Gijs,

It was the 5416, the F-5E agressor was the 5261.
Hualien was nice to but I liked Taitung better, more nostalgic. In Haulien I saw the RF-5's but no S-2 (a reason to get back to this nice country soon. I also missed some W&R). My last operational day (friday) was nice though! (today I did wrecks ;-). In a few hour I fly east. I hope the weather stays good!

Hi Pat,

Nice job again!! There used to be only 2 in that colours....so at least 3 nowadays. We saw the 5272 at Tainan Airshow

Why do you think there's only 2 brown/green ones? There have been quite a few of them in the past.

5418 is not an F-5F BTW.

Stefan

That was what the local spotters told me, most of them turned into grey ones and only 2 remained in brown/green

Nice stuff! I am definitely going to try spotting there when I visit Taiwan in a few years. Is there any list of W&R's located in Taiwan?
Cheers,
Gideon

A couple of years ago everything was toned down and the F-5's lost their beautiful colors. At Taitung everything was so much toned down that the maintainers complained that they could not read the numbers on the aircraft anymore. Now most numbers on the F-5's are readable again and most F-5's also wear squadron badges. And luckily some of the colors are coming back on the F-5's.

And yes, there is a list with W&R locations. Check:

Yes indeed, http://www.spottingmode.com/wro/download/ is a great site!
Thanks to Erwin Husmann his site I had great W&R trip too. The POI's that you can download are spot on!

On the saturday after Hualien I drove north via a lot of Erwins w&r's and some operational stuff. On sundaymorning I flew to Japan. I was very happy to reach Iruma Airshow just in time. The log can be found here: http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=100589

Last monday was a holiday in Japan. For the first time in weeks I could sleep until long after sunrise.
After I woke up I visited the museum at Tokozarawa and some other W&R around Tokyo.
On tuesday I planned to visit Hyakuri and on wednesday (before returning home) Iruma.
My new Japanese friend however thought it was better to visit Iruma tuesday. I think he was right, it was a great day with a lot of activity:
