Re: 1970s Mil Collection
Ahh, the Delta Dart!! They finally got the idea perfected with that one. That Squadron (101st FIS) used to practice in the winter north of my town in Vermont. Once in a while I would hear a dull kaboom and I would know they went a little too fast.
One time I asked one of their pilots why it was only during the winter that I saw them and his reply was, "an ejection over land in the winter was preferred to one over the freezing North Atlantic." Can't argue with that logic.
Not the best shot here, but this is FB-111A 68-0282 landing at Plattsburgh AFB, NY late in 1973.

Re: 1970s Mil Collection
I know, I know-they were so commonplace. But what would a collection be if it didn't have a few Hueys?

F-105B 57-5787 141 TFS NJ ANG at Griffis AFB, NY 2 Aug 1975
UH-1M (mod UH-1B) 66-0629 CT ARNG at Bradley Field, CT 18 Jan 1976. These UH-1M Hueys were modified by Highes and were equipped with the INFANT (Iroqouis Night Fighter and Night Tracker) sysem that reportedly used a side-mounted XM-21 gun system in conjunction with Low-light-level television and searchlights. I'm not certain if this equipment was still operational after the aircraft had been returned to the States and assigned to Army National Guard Units as we see here.

Glad you like them, Roel
I've always wondered if the nose-down attitude of the B-52 in flight was the result of a wing angle of attack design problem. Here's a shot of a fast-mover, B52G 57-6487 of the 416BW at Griffis AFB, NY on 11 August 1979

Re: 1970s Mil Collection
The aircraft with FY 55 [55-5471] was still on active duty in the 1970's , its last operator was 356th TAS / AFRes and was during the late 60's active in Vietnam.
Seen at Yard taken a deserved sleep.

Ahh, the Provider. An interesting aircraft, and the result of quite an evolution. I have written a couple of articles on the C-123, one of which is online HERE

Re: 1970s Mil Collection
Excellent, like all of your shots, RobertS. I see the intake cover can serve as a traffic cone, too! The fellow on the right has a cousin here in the states. He shows up very early at almost every airshow, and just as the photographer is about to take a nice clean picture of a jet, he walks up to the intake and starts gazing inside. It's enough to drive you to drink. This guy in your picture appears to be doing a FOD check, so he's working for a living.
