Re: Pre Libya no-fly-zone buildup
I think this will only partially affect the build-up of a/c in the region. We still have a resolution to maintain. The big question is of course, how will the opposition react on Khadaffis cease fire.

No option, as Rotterdam is being used right now in the War on Drugs in the Caribean and guarding the former Antilles against Chavez.LV84 wrote:Maybe they can send the HMS Rotterdam with some Lynx helicopters as they already know the area.

Indeed, I think the no fly zone will continue as planned but now the NATO has more time to prepare since it is less time critical now.I think this will only partially affect the build-up of a/c in the region. Interesting question indeed, suppose the opposition wants to head to Tripoli again to overthrow Khadaffi. Will NATO 'protect' an attacking force?

Re: Pre Libya no-fly-zone buildup
I wonder why Belgium got a request from NATO to send F-16's and the Dutch government didn't.
Could it have something to do with an MLD Lynx standing somewhere in Libya right now????

Re: Pre Libya no-fly-zone buildup
Is NATO sending the requests then? I believe the members still need to decide if the alliance will take part.
For now, every UN-member can join in but I suppose the US will coordinate the whole operation (kinda like Desert Shield + Storm).

Very nice ... And now, I am waiting for the same measures regarding Bahrain, where yesterday at least 6 peoples got killed (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12769168) and Yemen (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12783585)!!!
But I guess, it will be a long wait ... But, I forgot, Libya has oil and Khadaffi is not our "friend", like the rulers in Bahrain or Yemen.

I think... Malta. A Canadian CC-130J (130604) was spotted today in Malta by Al Jazeera TV.
Also according to them some E-3 NATO aircraft are operating from Malta.
