EHLW Frisian Flag Photo Topic (Leeuwarden AFB)
Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

I Visited FF as well on the 13th, together with Asto and Raptor. Trying to be a little different from the rest. Njoy!

Wednesday Afternoon. The F-4's are grounded due to Ejection seat problems.
Enjoy, cheers!

What a great show!!!
But... isit not a TEL SA-6 Gainful that I saw behind the F-16 N° J-066 and J-367? Where does it come from? Former NVA, I guess...

A different angle
Was there yesterday morning, was lucky. Especially with recent developments (volcanic ash, ejection seat check on F-4s). Seen a lot of regular shots, but this was very much a special occasion. Although making old-fashioned analogue I always carry a compact digital. Here are some results.
Some questions on this forum concern the parking situation. It's not bad, but if you're late you have to walk a few hunderd metres.
Most spotters are located on the spotters 'terp'. These terps have been erected as a refuge during floods, especially in Friesland. There were no warnings, but the terp was still overcrowded.
Some try to find that other spot that no one dares to enter. With predictable outcome.
A Klu F-16 may not be that interesting, but being sent away while planes are landing occurs usually only in bad dreams.
Was there a spotter that rented a servicing platform at the famr acrooss the road to get shots from the circuit? It was not not occupied yesterday.
The approach pattern is sometimes crowded with F-16s. First two came in hand in hand due to (simulated?) emergency
The Fins form a somewhat scrappy foursome.
