Re: Warsaw Pact photos - pre 1990 only
Sounds great Robert !
Can you give us a clue on how many pages it is expected to be ? And do you have an indication on the expected price (approximately) ?
Can't wait,
Iwan

Re: Warsaw Pact photos - pre 1990 only
My father was that pilot -- and here is his description of the flight:
I flew from the front cockpit with Col Uvarov of USSR in the rear cockpit
which happens to be the Captain's !! I flew two sorties in Mig 25 UB on 25th
Apr 1979 out of Krasnador air base. In the second sortie, I climbed to 26
kms and 2.6 mach. Time from brakes off to cruise at 23 kms / 2.3 M with 2 U
turns during climb was 7 mnts 40 secs!I was wearing the same model pressure
suit that Yuri Gagarin used!
Here are a couple of pictures of him standing in front of the aircraft.

1979 SSSR Krasnodar AB, first flight of an Indian pilot with MiG-25
http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/Histo ... kumar.html
" the Soviets offered flight evaluation of the Mig-25. at the Krasnodar air base. Air Mshl Katre formed a team consisting of AVM Wollen, Gp Capt Ramu and Wg Cdr Madhav Rao to carry out the evaluation. The team flew down to Krasnodar and Gp Capt Ramu flew two sorties in a Mig-25 U two seat trainer version. He thus became the first IAF plot to fly this legendary aircraft. "

prganapathy,
Unbelievable
Now, we are living in a really "small-World" !
If your father needs a nice-big paperprint to the wall of his office, I can send for you the high-resolution scans of those slides by E-mail.
And of course, I have a lot of other photos of their flight on the MiG-25 + pics. of Indian pilots who were trained in Krasnodar in those times

Bulgarian AF MiG-23BN "56" - 1982 Exercise " Shield-82 "
Interestingly these fighter-bombers did not wear camouflage in 1982.

Unfortunately in very bad-quality on ORWO 6x6 neg.
Only the view is interesting, with PVO Su-11s in the background.
I uploaded the 4883x4080 version to one of my albums on the Russian Net:

Comment on this pic from a Russian guy, who served in Astrachan:

" Да, за такой снимок в то время можно было спокойно загреметь в турпоездку в солнечную Сибирь. "

" Yes, for such picture at that time it was possible to ring out easy in a tour to solar Siberia. "

Re: Warsaw Pact photos - pre 1990 only
One of the occasions, when I had problems with the security rules.
Bulgaria, Tolbukhin AB 1982
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 5&t=h&z=14
After our landing, took some photos of this Soviet AF MiG-23M.
A crew member of the NVA-LSK An-26 was a "lurker", he informed the Russians...
Few minutes later a Russian political officer arrived, he asked my film-roll.
He got the next film-roll
What a big secret was an unarmed MiG-23M on a WP-exercise in 1982 ???...ha-ha
note> 16.VA MiG-23Ms wore much smaller red-stars in the same time in GDR:

Hi Robert,
I keep enjoying all your photos. Can I pre-order your book with you, or do I have to wait for a commercial bookshop to sell them ?
Just let me know !
Thanks,
Iwan

Do not worry, my publisher prints the book in really high numbers compare with todays standards.
Their opinion is the same like yours - this topic will very popular at customers, because the chronic lack of these kind of data & photos ere now...
+ I will keep back large stocks for the Hungarian sale in next year(the same English version with Hungarian-text appendix only)
Also, I think we will have reprints in the near future, with at least 50% "new" photos
