Was in spain last week and spotted The DJ, again, in front of my lens.....

Always going for the numbers;


In between the Casa's at Cuatro Vientos;


Sleeping on the platform at Cuatro Vientos, he likes his beer in the evening;


Woke him up, walked to another platform and again sleeping;

Dirk Jan de Ridder joined me to chase Tigers on the Dutch plains...... Man, that sounds like a safari ! Actually it was at least as dusty as in the sahara, but we didn't mind. As a matter of fact, the sand was the reason for us to go there in the first place. Seen here is a Czech Mi-24 attacking the bandits at a local "bad guys camp" during a CSAR mission for the NATO Tiger Meet 2010. Other participants that joined the Hind were two Italian AB212's en a Dutch AS532 Cougar.

Hoi mensen,

vandaag op Gilze was het druk bij het hek. Allen op jacht naar die foto's met heli's en in de achtergrond bomen met herfstkeuren. Onderstaande foto genomen toen de Chinook D101 bezig was. Hierop kun je enkele spotters langs het hek bezig zien met wat ze het liefst doen: foto's maken van helicopters . Aan de andere zijde naast mij stonden ook nog circa 8 fotograven. Ik denk wel dat de heren en dames van de heli's het leuk vinden dat ze zo "in de picture" staan. Sommige heli piloten begrijpen helemaal wat de heren aan het hek willen. Bedankt daarvoor!



Tja Gilze is toch nog steeds de basis met de mooiste foto mogelijkheden. Vraag is alleen nog voor hoelang?

Oh gaat het daar ook al dicht? Ik ben me inmiddels al aan het verdiepen in Ministeck. Misschien is dat ook wel een leuke hobby...

Gilze zal niet gauw dicht gaan gezien de recente inversteringen maar de vraag is, of de slopes nog lang gebruikt zullen worden omdat er allerlei alternatieven aangelegd worden. Zowel op als buiten de basis (Deelen).

Het was me inderdaad een dagje wel. Dank voor de social talk en ook een speciale dank naar de vliegers die, al dan niet bewust, hun kist in de juiste posities manoeuvreerden.

Gilze zal niet gauw dicht gaan gezien de recente investeringen

Dan is sluiting dichtbij, dat is zo ongeveer NATO doctrine. Bovendien heeft Gilze weinig medegebruikers buiten de KLu. Dan levert sluiting het volle pond op, in vergelijking met velden waar wel ATC, brandweer etc nodig blijven voor andere gebruikers.
