9 day trip to Taiwan (last day) Hsinchu & Taipei (Photo)

Post by stipjes »

Hello,

Last year I visited Taiwan and really liked it. I missed the Tracker and AT-3 so it is a good reason to go back. My friend LMB was eager to visit Taiwan so we made it our last trip of the year.
Our first stop was Hsinchu. They started flying around 7.30. We counted 19 flying in total in a few hours time.

Later in the morning we left for CCK. In an hour time 10 F-CK-1's landed. The Army was excercising.

In the afternoon we left for Chiaya but nothing was happening there so we went hunting for wrecks! According to the bros. D. from B. (who are also here) 21 flew until 12 so we will try tomorrow again. We have no planning but we will follow the sun....

Hello,

When we woke up today the sun was shining but when we arrived at Chiaya around 9AM it was hazy. 10 F-16's took of and a nice visitor landed.

Around 12 we left for Tainan. After the one hour drive there was not too much happening (lunchbreak) so we decided to drive 30 min further south for Gangshan. When we arrived 9 AT-3's took off. One plane is off the bucket list now.

Tomorrow will be election day so we will probably spent the day hiking or beaching..... There will be no flying according to the locals :-(....

9 day trip to Taiwan (day 4) RF-5's Hualien (Photo)

Post by stipjes »

This morning we did not put the alarm clock because we did not expect too much. Luckely we woke up at 6.15 and arrived at the Airfield at 7.15. 3 F-5's were ready for take off. It was a nice day! 2 a/c off the Taiwan bucket list, 1 to go.

Tonight we stay in Hualien. The weather will not be as good as today but we will give it a try. Fingers crossed.

9 day trip to Taiwan (day 7/8) Trackers @ Pingtung (Photo)

Post by stipjes »

Last teusday and wednesday we spent driving a lot of kilometers between Gangshan, Tainan, Guiren and Pingtung North. Just to see as much activity as possible....
It was worth the drives. The third a/c is off the bucket list! We saw four different Trackers fly :-). Here are the results of Pingtung:

Gangshan I already posted last week with AT-3's. Unfortunately the Mentors were not flying these days :-(. Tainan and Guiren I will post tomorrow. We need a sleep now after driving around the west coast all day again, we ended up a kilometer from Hsinchu base now. Tomorrow hopefully activity and good weather here on our last day...

9 day trip to Taiwan (day 6) Hualien/Taitung (Photo)

Post by stipjes »

Last monday, we had a busy day at Hualien. We started the day early. When we arrived at 7.30 the first a/c were ready for take-off. There was a lot of activity until 12.30. Unfortunately no Tracker :-(.

We decided to leave and try to reach Tautung before sunset to score some Tiger. Because of a new friend we did the trip in 2,5 hours (normally 3,5) and 15 Tiger were flying around (under the clouds).

Because we where happy we decided not to stay in Tautung but go back to the west coast again for my Traker and for Luciens Mentors....
Around 20.30 we arrived at Ghangshan but we could not find a hotel. In an aquarium shop/restaurant we logged in and drove back south for a hotel. I was dead but had top wake up at 6.00 again for yesterdays day...
Trackers was the goal.

( I posted this day earlier but I managed to Edit this post and overwite it with the next.... (So I post it again....). Sorry.

Like the pics it takes me back some years. For my visit I had dozens of rolls of Provia and of course then had to scan them! See here, http://militaryaviationimages.blogspot. ... ic-of.html

Well done to you. Michael Fisher.

Haha, yep. The new friend was very gifted (We hope). Though last year I thought that too and 5 months later I received a penalty from Pingtung...
Besides driving between Tainan, Gangshan and Pingtung we also visited the Army base of Guiren. It felt less relaxed here but still we were able to take some pics, there was a lot of activity:

Also some shots from Tainan taken in the afternoon of the 7th (it also was our 7th visit and first succesfull one to this base). 10 a/c took off and returned after an hour:

9 day trip to Taiwan (last day) Hsinchu & Taipei (Photo)

The last day of our trip we spent in the North. In the morning we visited Hsinchu and the Taipei we visited until sunset. The best surprise where the Apaches visiting Hsinchu with many circuits. Four Hercules landing in Tapei within an hour made our day!

We are already back for a (busy) week now but LMB and I had a great time in Taiwan. As long as you are carefull a lot is possible (with hit and run too). The only places I personally do not like too much are the Army bases. Besides the operational stuff there are a lot of W&R! See http://www.spottingmode.com for that.
May-be I want to go back one more time to this great country (of China)... We took pics of almost all operational a/c execpt the T-34's at the academy and H.500 of the Navy.
I hope you liked the pics (though I still have to learn how to get the right colours in Photoshop....).
