FK100 - FUSELAGE - DUBAI MALL

Post by YORKSHIRESI »

Gents, I think this has been posted before, but cant locate the thread, the F100 in the Dubai Mall (Kidszone area) is now in FlyDubai clrs....

question is, this does actually look like a real frame ( albeit with fake landing gear ) , did anything ever come out as to its ID, or is it a great mock up ?

thanks
Si

I can't say which one it is (yet) unfortunately, but I am pretty sure it is real. It is in KidZania, which is an organisation with now about 2 dozen locations worldwide. Each location is basically a learning/fun park for kids and as far as I can tell each location has a plane, or part of one. Including an A319 in London, MD-90 in Jeddah, B737 in Singapore, MD-80 in Lisbon, etc. I know the real identities for some, but still searching for more.

These are all the Kidzania locations I know of. More are scheduled to open this year. It seems by the way, that although some planes are local ones (the Saudi and Indian for example), most are shipped from either Mexico or the US to the location. It may well be therefore, that the Fokker in Dubai is actually a Mexican one.
Location	Country Type Registration
Santa Fe Mexico DC-9-32 N942ML
Monterrey Mexico DC-9 ?
Tokyo Japan B737 ?
Jakarta Indonesia F100 ?

Seoul South Korea B737 ?
Cuicuilco Mexico DC-9-32 N606NW

P.S. and thanks for posting the question, as it made me remember to check these locations. Something I wanted to do for a long time already, but didn't get to.

Unfortunately not, but if you look at

http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php? ... t=kidzania

you'll see that quite a few others have indeed been identified.

Having visited the Dubai Mall last week, a close 'inspection' of the aircraft reveals it is not a Fokker 100, but rather an F-28. Telltale signs include:
the eyebrow windows (which have been painted white)
pax door handling mechanism, which is different on the Fokker 100
lack of a small window in the pax door.

Question remains: which MSN are we talking about...
