Port visit Antwerp

Post by Nato Tiger »

On 14 September, two Chinese navy ships will arrive in the port of Antwerp.

PLAN Gaoyouhu
PLAN Huangang

The ships are returning to China after an anti-pirate mission in Djibouti, which makes it very likely that there are some helicopters on board.
It is not known that the ships are being opened to the public.

Two Z-9 helicopters were noted this afternoon. No serials at this moment. Hangars were closed around 4 pm.

Actually 3 Chinese ships arrived. Both cruisers (578 Yangzhou and 577 Huanggang) carry a Z-9 in the hangar, the hangar of the 3rd ship was empty.

On Sunday 1 or 2 ships are opened for the public. See:

I was told that no helicopters were outside today as well. Apparently some kind of a tarpaulin has been erected over the helicopter deck which could indicate that they will remain inside. But go and check yourself and don't shoot the messenger..

At 1930 no helicopters outside. The biggest ship was clear but at the two smaller ships there were some large party tents on the deck.

Anyone have an update on the position of the helicopters?
Would be a shame if none were outside for the ship's visit tomorrow

Thanks
