Open days Balkan region 2019
Hi all,
To limit the no. of messages re. season's planning, I would like to put it together in this post:
Any valid information so far about open days in
- Romania, especially after the tragic crash of the MiG.21 in Borcea last year
- Serbia --> maybe Batajnica again?
- Croatia --> anything else than their August 5 Operation Oluja day flypast? Maybe Pleso Open around 12. December anniversary?
Thanks in advance, regards
Martin

The Romanians are planning an open day in mid-July at their Transport Squadron airbase in July as per info received. No news known if the Lancer will be flying over or not. The Romanians seem to be this year participating during Riat as stated elsewhere.
Will get back if new further info would become available.

The Open Days at Câmpia Turzii and Fetesti usually announce around May, June...if there will be any.
- Serbia --> maybe Batajnica again?
Last year Nis AFB had an Open Day, not Batajnica
- Croatia --> anything else than their August 5 Operation Oluja day flypast? Maybe Pleso Open around 12. December anniversary?
Pleso did not had any open days in the past 2-3 years.

Romanian LanceR 's were cleared to fly a few days before last years edition of BIAS, as a few MiG's were there. Aerobatics were a big no-no at that time but they were resuming normal operations according to crew.
Don't know how this affects their airshowplanning though. Would be nice to know as they, understandably, messed up my plans last year.

Re: Open days Balkan region 2019
Hi all, thank you for the feedback.
Started the discussion to trigger some discussion and information, hopefully, as often information about events in the 3 given countries becomes known only after they happened. In some cases I even stumbled over photos on airliners.net only. And I did not mention Bulgaria, after there was a series of open days in 2018, also not so much known before, obviously.
So Batajnica was just a guess, as they had some major events in the last couple of years, especially 2017.
The Romanian Lancers definitely are back in the air, but seemingly so far avoiding public flying displays after the 2018 crash. A civilian pilot told me they are very active, also as their F-16s are not fully operationally yet. No idea what is still missing to be so.
Thanks, let's see which other information comes up in time this year.
regards
Martin

Romanian MiG-21s are due to participate at both RIAT & NATO Days this year, I can't see why they wouldn't be present at the Romanian Air Force events as well.

That event was only available after registration through the Serbian Foreign Ministry. A media recommendation was an advantage but not necessary. So Batajnica was just a guess, as they had some major events in the last couple of years, especially 2017.
The F-16 are operational as of today, fully taking over Air policing duties at Borcea.also as their F-16s are not fully operationally yet. No idea what is still missing to be so.

There were no restrictions on entry to Batanijca in 2017, there was no need to register in advance.
