On 1 August 2000 I photographed three Mi-8Ts in Lithuanian Air Force livery with the civil company Helisota at Kaunas-Aleksotas:
15 Blue, 16 Blue and 17 Blue. All three had the standard dark brown/light brown/green camouflage and were without rotor blades, but with full Lithuanian AF titles. It looked as if they were ready to be delivered back to the Air Force.
15 was reported as being c/n 99050212 and should subsequently have been sold to Congo. A year before, on 13 July 1999 I photographed a Mi-8 in Lithuanian SAR service colours (Gelbejimo Tarnyba) with c/n 99050212 clearly visible on the nose. This Hip was in deep maintenance with Helisota and could have been repainted within a year.
16 Blue and 17 blue have never been reported anywhere. Does anybody know more about these two mystery Mi-8s? It is 20 years ago, but perhaps somebody knows? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Berry
