USARMY UH-60M's + CH-47F's on the move to Bulgaria

Post by Hilco »

This morning seven Blackhawks and six Chinooks past through Austria on their way to Romania and after that to Bulgaria.
Currently the last three Blackhawks are still visible on ADSB flying towards their destination in Bulgaria.

The Blackhawks belong to A/1-214th AVN and according to ADSB are the following helos:
UH-60M 15-20741 DUKE 86
UH-60M 15-20743 DUKE 45
UH-60M 15-20754 DUKE 17
UH-60M 10-20245 DUKE 44
UH-60M 10-20272 DUKE 65
UH-60M 10-20276 DUKE 42
UH-60M 10-20311 DUKE 98
They all made a tankstop at Linz airport.

The Chinooks didn't make a tankstop at Linz and were hardly ever visible at ADSB, I only saw them popping up twice very shortly in Austria.
They flew in three groups:
1st group consisted of 2 CH-47F's
2nd group consisted of 3 CH-47F's, According to ADSB one of these should be 13-08435
3rd group consisted of 1 CH-47F

The exact destination seems to be Bezmer (LBIA) but the reason for this movement is unknown to me. Anyone out there who knows this?

Any help on confirming the serials of the helicpoters is much appreciated!

Hilco.

Hilco, there were at least 8 Blackhawks, the 8th one was Duke32 which should be 20314, this was not visible on ADSB.
The Chinooks flew via Papa and Timisoara to Bezmer, the UH60's via Linz, Arad to Bezmer.
I can confirm zero serials from over here, and was also wondering why they flew into Bulgaria.

Thanks for the update Pieter.
I know there were eight planned for a tankstop, but as I wasn't able to go to the airport I had to go with ADSB and watch them all flying by at work. Still not bad, and better then nothing ;)

Would be great if someone can confirm any of the serials incl, the Chinooks.

Many thanks in advance!

At about the same time like the first Blackhawks Chinook 437 was visible at Adsb near the Austrian border in the same area like the Blackhawks.
The movement is related to the exercise Defender 21.

From Liveatc i can confirm Grit42 a flight of 1xCH47F( not on ADSB at all), and Grit41 a flight of two CH47F's (Grit41 was briefly on ADSB as 13-08437). Grit45 was briefly showing on ADSB as 13-08435 so should be the flight of three?
