Army Super Puma damaged at air show in France
Last Saturday, during training for an air show in Roanne, France,
a Swiss Army Super Puma was damaged during a flight maneuver.
No one was injured, the army defense group said on Friday.

The training flight was used to prepare for a planned flight demonstration on September 17, 2023.
In the case of the single figure “Screwdriver Down”,
there was an unusual deviation from the intended flight attitude,
which was immediately corrected by the helicopter crew consisting of two pilots,
as the defense group further reports .
In this incident, strong forces acted on the helicopter,
but it was able to land safely at the intended location.
As standard, checks were carried out on the helicopter after the flight.
According to the statement, t

to the helicopter.
As a result, the planned flight demonstration of the Super Puma on Sunday was canceled, it said.
The incident is being investigated by the Air Force's Aviation Safety Department.

The helicopter is currently still in France
and is being prepared for transport back to Switzerland.
The defense group also said that the individual figure “Screwdriver Down” is a demanding flight maneuver.
After a horizontal hover at a safe altitude,
the nose is brought down vertically and flown with a complete rotation around its own axis.
Until the technical and aviation inspection and investigations have been completed,
this individual figure will not be used in the upcoming planned flight demonstrations for safety reasons.
