https://www.facebook.com/lufthansatechnikgroupIt was a common sight at our Hamburg base in the 1950s, but today it is a very special visitor: After decades, we are proud to welcome a Lockheed L-1649A Starliner back to our airport. This fine specimen of the classic piston-engined transatlantic airliner type was dubbed "Super Star" in Lufthansa service and introduced various innovations such as the Senator service.
Now, it will be re-assembled by our technical experts, apprentices and retirees into a static exhibit for the airline's 100th anniversary in 2026.
Lufthansa L-1649 Starliner restoration to restart; static display only in 2026
