Hunting for Dinosaurs: Starfighters, Jaguars, Drakens

Post by Frank »

Hi all

Now that my Japan slides have been scanned and are stored in my Lightoom database, it is time for me to move to the next topic: "Hunting for Dinosaurs". In spring 2003 I was happy to join Iwan Bogels on his DAPPA Dino Trip through Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
Goal of this trip was to host four Japanese Aviation Photographers and show them the last operational Starfighters, Jaguars and Drakens before they would be withdrawn from service. When looking back four years later, I am very happy that I was happy to join that trip and was asked to be the driver of the van, touring our Japanese guest around for a week, on a 2500km long trip. Tight schedule but we did a lot.

If you want to read more about this, check out http://www.franknoort.nl/dinotrip/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here are some newly scanned slides from the past:

Nice reports on the webiste indeed. Amazing how you managed to arrange all these base visits. Never knew Air Force PR departments even alllowed these things for only a few people.
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Again a great trip-report on your website (as are all the others)!

PS: I get more and more convinced that if you would publish these reports in a kind of spotters-book, it would be a sure hit!

Best regards,

Walter

Howdie Frank, very nice pictures. I see you are very happy with the result from Andries. And you always know how to start a topic.

But...... as the topic says Starfighters,Jaguars, Drakens...... I did not see any Jaguars (yet)....so here some of my Dinosaurs, and we can add the RAF Jaguars also to it.

Rgds,

Kier.

Yep, those were the days Frank !

To bring back a bigger smile on your face, should I mention just a few words......

Risotto
Maximum tunnel speed
Tornado's at Lechfeld
Spicy mozarella
Mercedes Vito at 173 km/h
The sound of Masami's camera
The Nokia TF-104G 'ringtone'

For those who wish to read more, click here.

Haha !

Cheers,
Iwan
