Meiringen (LSMM) Wiederhohlungskurs 2009
Last week I spend a few days in Switzerland to enjoy the first week of the 2009 Wiederhohlungskurs at Meiringen. Flying started at wednesday with only the Tigers being active. On thursday both Hornets and Tigers took off. Unfortunately it was a little bit clouded and sometimes snowy on these first two days. On friday the weather was really nice and sunny. Enjoy the pictures, more can be found on my website. Good luck to any of you who will be travelling to Switzerland this week to enjoy the second week of the WK2009!

Funny to see J-3038 back in service, which is a former Austrian AF jet. Does anyone know whether more ex Austrians have returned to operational service already?

Re: Meiringen (LSMM) Wiederhohlungskurs 2009
I have been to Meiringen as well. This week from Monday until Thursday I was lucky to shoot more than 24GB on F-5's and F-18's under most of the time sunny skies. Anyway here two of my first pics ever made with a dSLR. Yes... I was one of the final ones doing slides... Although Capture NX 2, Aperture 2, Nik and Photoshop CS4 are still new to me I am happy to share just two of my pics made a few days ago.
camera: Nikon D3
lens: Nikkor 4.0/300mm AF-S
iso 200
shutterspeed 1/1000
aperture F8
adjustments in Capture NX 2 RAW into JPEG...

Correct me if I am wrong but I think J-5011 has replaced its old Tiger color scheme with a new more colorful one as shown here during take off during WK 2009 at Meiringen...

Another two examples of the near perfect conditions at Meiringen during WK 2009. For the people who are going to Meiringen next week... enjoy!!!

Nice shots from a nice country.
Was it intentional, the heavy de-nosing on J-3095?
Hans.

As I am new in digital photography and digital image processing - it was the first time I tried Nikon Capture NX 2 - I can't imagine I did anything intentional...Hans Rolink wrote:Nice shots from a nice country.

Ahh, I see.jeroenow wrote:As I am new in digital photography and digital image processing - it was the first time I tried Nikon Capture NX 2 - I can't imagine I did anything intentional...

It seems as though the software tried to remove noise (grain like structures) a bit too much. If you look at the rock wall behind the F-5, youll notice that the texture is a bit blocky. The F-5 is also exceptionally clean, without any small detail. This could have been intentional and just a matter of taste.
I don't use Capture NX, but do use Nikon gear and process my images with Photoshop CS3 and Neat Image Pro. When I cranck up the de-noising with Neat Image, I get similar results, hence my question.
Hans.
