How many mm for Nellis and other fields.
Hello,
I will be visiting Las Vegas in March and do some spotting
at Nellis, El-Centro, Yuma and The Tucson Area.
I have done some research on the internet and Scramble.nl
and found some interesting info and pictures. The only thing
I could not figure out is how many mm I need.(a specially Nellis)
My maximum focal length is 400mm and my crop factor is 1.5
i.e. that will be +/- 600mm is this sufficient for Nellis, El-Centro,
Yuma and The Tucson Area or do I have to invest in a converter?
Please let me know you opinions and experiences.
Regards,
Ronald N.

Re: How many mm for Nellis and other fields.
400 is more than enough for all mentioned fields except maybe Nellis. When shooting from the speedway a little more won't hurt for shooting fighters.

Re: Nellis AFB ( KLSV/LSV ) - 2011
F-22A 113 HO is probably incorrect.A reliable Japanese source quotes this jet as being present at Kadena on the current deployment and marked as 3rd OG of the 525th FS.

Thanks. Took a good look at the picture and I think it was 093, as 9 looked 11.... But there were more spotters that day, so perhaps anybody could confirm.

Gents,
4 F-22As went to Hickam Friday morning, 3 OTs and a WA (5 launched, 1 came back) with 1 of the KC-10s, Oscar, did you get the nos?
FYI 4093 is not at Nellis; based during our visit were WAs 4011, 4109 & 4116/433WPS (plus 4017 not noted), OTs 4111, 4120, 4124 & 4128 (neither 4010/422TES nor 4015 flew last week) plus FFs 4066 & 4068, HO 4096, AK 4103 & TY 4016.

Hi,
Sorry for late reply. I didn't see a KC-10 departing on Friday.
I saw quite some nellis birds leaving and thought a number didn't come back. Also a numer (all?) of the AVs left during flag mission departures, but they didn't return.
