MCAS Iawkuni (RJOI)

Current UDP deployed units,

VMFA-314 VW F/A-18A++ arrived 15th March 2011,due to return to MCAS Miramar in September 2011,

The departure of these jets to MCAS Baeufort is imminent,as 12 F/18C from VFA-94 arrived at MCAS Iwakuni on the 14th July from Wake Island as Fued 81/86 and Fued 91/96 with KC-10As Petro 41/42 as tanker support.

VMA-214 WE AV-8B+ 6 AV-8Bs arrived here on the 15th June 2011,modexes WE-51 to WE-56.So far no bureau numbers have been confirmed.**Update,by 06th August the following UDP AV-8Bs are known,

VMFA(AW)-533 have departed MCAS Iwakuni to Wake Island on the morning of 15th July en route to MCAS Beaufort.Details of the callsigns on here later.

On September 04th 6x F/A-18A++ of VMFA-115 arrived(Fued 71-76) followed by a further 4 the following day.These jets will replace VMFA-314.

VMA-311 Det arrived at Kadena on the 12th December with 6 AV-8B.One of these is 165584 WL-01 in full colour markings.

By 30th January the following jets had been identified when they arrived at Iwakuni,

FWIW, 12 aircraft departed KNFW (NASJRB Fort Worth) westbound on 22nd January as Knight 31-34, 41-44, and 51-54. Not sure if this was VMFA(AW)-121 (aka Green Knights) though as this is a West Coast-based squadron.

No details of their callsigns or destination is known to me,but these usually stop first at Wake on the way back.

These jets call Hobo.

VMFA(AW)-121 call Knight,so it looks like sdamico is correct and they may be on their way.Why these should transit Fort Worth is strange to say the least(weather perhaps)?.There have been a number of civil charters into Iwakuni this week,so they may well bo on their way.
