My pictures of 1998, part 9: Madrid-Barajas August

Post by LifelinerOne »

Hello everybody,

I have finally finished up scanning all my 1998 pictures, so expect some more topics with blasts from the past of 1998. Todays topic is about Madrid-Barajas. Visiting Madrid in August wasn't probably the best idea, scorching hot and a lot of heatwaves. Spotting was done from the cool lounge area in Terminal 2, where pictures could be taken from one door, which had the only non-tinted window in the buidling... Anyway, on with the pictures.

1. Starting off with this BAe146 from Paukn Air. This plane would crash a month later at Melilla, killing everyone on board...

2. Of course, Iberia was very present. Here a nice B757.

3. Air Europa was still flying in those old "Air Europe" colors, but also had some logojets, like this B737-300 promoting Martini.

4. Tunisair was leasing this A300 from AMC.

7. Iberia's sistercompany Aviaco flew with DC-9's and MD-80's.

8. Halcourier Metro missing it's lefthand prop.

11. Local A310 from Spanish airline Air Plus Comet.

12. A normal Aerolineas Argentinas B747-200. The colors are, as you can see, very similar to Iberia. Iberia was a major shareholders back in those days.
