Additional Black Hawk for Jordanian Royal Flight
Following the US State Department determination of the sale of one UH-60M Black Hawk to the Jordanian government on 7 July 2020, this then possible contract was capitalized on 21 October 2020.
The July 2020 determination contract, read the Scramble Facebook News reporting here, was worth USD 23 million but is now reported as (only) USD 13,7 million.
The whole sale is part of the US Foreign Military Sale programme and includes a Black Hawk, powered by two T700-GE-701D engines. The helicopter will be equipped with a Common Missile Warning System as well as Radar Signal and Laser Detecting sets, an extensive communication and transponder suits, an Identification Friend or Foe system, Embedded Global Positioning System with Inertial Navigation (EGIs) and other related elements of logistical, engineering, and programme support.
The UH-60M will be built at Stratford (CT) and is expected to be delivered by 30 November 2020. The Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) already operates UH-60Ms and the new UH-60M will supplement Jordan’s existing Royal Squadron fleet to facilitate the movement of the Jordanian royal family. The RJAF Black Hawks can be found at Prince Hashim Bin Abdullah II Royal Aviation Brigade 8 squadron at King Abdullah II air base. The Black Hawks of the Royal Flight have a military appearance in camouflage and are flown by the RJAF. These are assigned to the Royal Squadron based at Amman/Marka. That squadron is also equipped with the S-70A.
