The Argentine government contracted Carson Helicopters on 28 December 2021 to upgrade two former US Navy SH-3H Sea Kings for the Comando de Aviación Naval (COAN, Naval Aviation Command).
The helicopters were brought up to S-61T standard with composite rotorblades and a glass cockpit. On 31 December 2021, Scramble Magazine reported on the approval of the funding for the former US Navy helicopters.
The work has now been completed and the machines were handed over with serials and codes 0885/2-H-244 and 0886/2-H-245 to be operated by 2 Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Helicopteros (EA2H) at Comandante Espora, Bahía Blanca. The USD 12,8 million contract also includes training for eight technicians.
