Additional Sk40 training aircraft for Sweden
On 17 October 2024, the Försvarets materielverk (FMV, Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) ordered three additonal Grob G120TP basic training aircraft, locally known as the Sk40.
This is the second time that additional Sk40s were ordered. Earlier, on 7 December 2022, the FMV also ordered three G120TPs. In total, thirteen aircraft have been ordered until this moment.
The latest contract includes the purchase of a spare engine, more training aids and planning tools. The expected delivery of the new aircraft is planned for December 2024 to the FMV and onwards delivery toe the Flygvapnet (Swed AF, Swedish Air Force) in the first quarter of 2025.
The Sk40 basic trainers are based at Linköping/Malmen with the FlygSkolan (Flight School) as part of the Luftstridsskolan (Air Combat School) and are used for the GFU - Grundläggande Flygutbildning (basic flying training).
