Additonal aircraft for Slovenian Air Force

The government of the Republic of Slovenia included two new aircraft programmes in the current Plan of Development Programmes 2023–2026.

The first programme is the purchase of a second Alenia C-27J Spartan military transport aircraft. The transporter will have the same configuration as the first one, which was ordered on 17 November 2021. The original budget of €89 million has been increased to €159 million.

The second programme is known as the Multipurpose Military Helicopter Project and contains the procurement of six multi-purpose helicopters as a replacement for the current fleet of Bell 412 helicopters.

The procurement is planned for the 2023-2027 timeframe. A possible follow-on order is planned fotr after 2028. The value of this contract is €195 million.

It is not known yet which types of helicopters are shortlisted, but most probably Leonardo Helicopters and Airbus Helicopters will be amongst the preferred suppliers.
