Airbus A330MRTT qualified for Canada's STTC programme
The Government of Canada has qualified Airbus with their A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) as bidder for the Strategic Tanker Transport Capability (STTC) programme as replacement for the CC-150 Polaris.
The programme will acquire an in-service support solution for a new aircraft, as well as infrastructure to house and maintain the fleet at the main operating base, 8 Wing Trenton (Ontario).
Additionally, STTC will provide a training and simulation capability to prepare and maintain crew readiness.
The next step is that the programme now moves to the next stage of the call for tender. A draft request for proposal (RFP) is expected in Q3 2021. According to the information Boeing's KC-46A did not qualify for the STTC project.
Key dates of the STTC programme are:
2022/2023 implementation
2028/2029 Initial Operating Capability (IOC)
2030/2031 Full Operating Capability (FOC)
