Our friends of SavunmaSanayiST.com posted a very intriguing photo of the first Baykar Savunma Akıncı Taarruzi İnsansız Hava Aracı -TİHA (UCAS, Unmanned Combat Aerial System) for Ethiopia!
Since 2021, the east african country already operates the Bayraktar TB2S Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance Unmanned Combat Aerial System (MALE-UCAS) or SİHA (Silahlı İnsansız Hava Aracı) in Turkish.
The exact number of Akıncı systems ordered by Ethiopia is unclear. The Akıncı A is powered by 2 x 450 HP Motor Sich engines, whereas the Akıncı B has 2 x 750HP at its disposal and with 2 x 950HP, the Akıncı C is the most powerful version.
Why Ethiopia selected the Akıncı A is unclear but they are not alone, the Kyrgyzstan Border Service Also receives the same version.
The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Air Force will be the end-user of this drone.
