On 27 June 2022, Istrana Air Base (near the beautiful town of Treviso in the Veneto region of northern Italy) saw a small ceremony for the change of command of the 132° Gruppo (Squadron) of the Aeronautica Militare (ItAF, Italian Air Force).
This ceremony was high lighted by a mixed flypast of five Alenia (now Leonardo) F-2000 Eurofighters and one Alenia AMX ACOL.
While operational numbers of the AMX are rapidly declining, the F-2000s assigned to the 132° Gruppo (Squadron) of the 51° Stormo (Wing) carry out Quick Reaction Alert duties.
A surprise was the first F-2000B two seater assigned to the 132° Gruppo (Squadron). F-2000B MM55132/51-22 (construction number IT011) used to wear code 4-35 of the Grosseto Air base stationed 904° GEA/4° Stormo (Wing), and arrived at Istrana Air base only last week.
