Another Luftwaffe A310 withdrawn from use
On 3 September 2021, Luftwaffe (GAF, German Air Force) Airbus A310-304 serial 10+23 Kurt Schumacher departed Köln-Bonn/Wahn for its very last flight after 32 years of service.
Next stop was Hannover, where the Airbus will be disassembled into several parts. The aircraft will be converted into a restaurant and will be on display at the Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen, located fifty kilometres from Hannover airport. Upon arrival at the safari park, the Airbus A310 will receive a new paint job with animal motifs.
That leaves only one Airbus A310 (serial 10+25) left in the inventory of the Flugbereitschaft des Bundesministeriums der Verteidigung (FBS BMVg). This Multi Role Tanker Transporter (MRTT) is expected to be withdrawn from use in the near future. The other three A310-304MRTTs were withdrawn from use in January 2021 (10+27), May 2021 (10+24, to be scrapped) and August 2021 (10+26, sold to the Royal Canadian Air Force for spare parts).
