Argentinian military orders Bell 407
Argentina has signed a contract for six Bell 407GXi utility helicopters to replace the venerable SA315B Lama in use with both the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA, Argentine Air Force) and Ejército Argentino (EA, Argentine Army Aviation Command).
The deal for the new helicopters is valued at USD 38 million and they will be evenly split between the air force and the army. The first deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2023.
Over the past decade the number of active SA315Bs has dwindled. According to the Scramble Magazine database, only six remain in active service; four with the FAA, serials H-63, H-64, H-68 and H-69, and two with the EA, serials AE-387 and AE-390.
