Austrian Saab finds home at Flying Bulls

Hangar 7 at Salzburg aiport, home of the Flying Bulls collection, has welcomed Bundesheer (Austrian Air Force) Saab J105OË serial BJ-40. The trainer, which is adorned in a beautiful “Golden Tiger” colourscheme, was flown in on 13 January 2021.

It is meant to be displayed in the Bulls’ hangar until this summer. What will happen to the plane afterwards is not yet decided. The Bundesheer has operated some forty Saab J105OËs since 1970, flying 156.500 hours in total. The final flight of one of the last fifteen remaining operational machines was made on 31 December 2020. At least until now.
