Blue Angels final legacy Hornet flight
The US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron Blue Angels will perform for the last time with their F/A-18C/D “Legacy” Hornets on 4 November 2020.
The final flight of the baby Hornets marks the true start of the transition of the USNFDS to the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
The salute, flown by the team, will show the Hornets that served the Blue Angels for 34 years. The 2021 show season will be the Blue Angels’ first year flying the Super Hornet platform as well as the 75th anniversary of the team.
The flight will take place from home base NAS Pensacola (FL) and will last last some thirty minutes.
The six Hornets, and most probably an additional photo ship, will fly over at least the following locations from 16:00 hrs (LT): Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, Ferry Pass, Navarre Beach, Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Community Maritime Park, Palafox Street in downtown Pensacola.
From 16 November 2020 onwards, the Blue Angels will start their F/A-18E/F display winter training over Pensacola. In January 2021, they will deploy to its common winter training facility NAF El Centro (CA). Training will continue through April in preparation for the 2021 show season.
