BREAKING! First Super Mushshaks arrive in Türkiye!
Already back in November 2019, Scramble Magazine reported that deliveries of the first Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) MFI-395 Super Mushshak trainers for 123 Filo of the Türk Hava Kuvvetleri (Turkish Air Force) were planned for June 2020. Since then, only a handful of test flights at the PAC facilities at Kamra (Pakistan) were recorded but deliveries never materialised.
Until now! In the second week of October 2022, Scramble Magazine received confirmation that at least two Super Mushshaks are being test flown at the facilities of Türk Havacilik Uzay Sanayii (Turkish Aerospace Industries, TUSAŞ) at Akinci air base.
It is unclear why the aircraft are flown at the TUSAŞ facilities, but most likely they are undergoing system integration testing of some sort since the KT-1T and the T-38M, which the pilots will encounter subsequently in their training, have full glass (and similar) cockpits.
The Super Mushshak project has been pestered with delays since the contract was signed during the IDEAS 2016 Defence Fair in Karachi. A total of 52 aircraft were purchased which are slated to replace the Cessna T-41D and SIAI Marchetti SF260D. Now six years into the contract we perceive it as a good sign that some have arrived in Turkey. They will eventually operate with 123 Filo from Izmir-Kakliç and 126 Filo from Istanbul/Atatürk and Yalova.
