Budget approved for Philippine Air Force C-130J
The Philippine House of Representatives has approved the request of the Hukbong Himpapawid ng Pilipinas (PAF, Philippine Air Force) for additional funding to acquire five new Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) 2022 budget has been amended for down payment on the new transporters.
According to the Scramble Magazine database, the PAF has four operational C-130s in its inventory which are operated by the 222nd Airlift Squadron Hercules at Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base.
The acquisition of new equipment is part of the AFP modernisation programme, which is a priority measure of the president Duterte administration. It has not been reported if the PAF intends to acquire the C-130J or C-130J-30 model.
