Contract awarded for Tunisian Air Force T-6C training aircraft
On 30 June 2022, Textron Aviation Defense, Wichita (KS), has been awarded a USD 91 million modification to a previously awarded contract for the procurement of Al Quwwat al-Jawwiya At'Tunisia's (Tunisian Air Force) T-6C Texan II training aircraft.
The contract modification is for the procurement of eight T-6C training aircraft, spare parts, spare engines, aircraft support equipment, training systems and other items. All work will be performed in Wichita and is expected to be completed by 30 September 2026.
On 20 November 2020, Scramble Magazine reported on the approval of the Tunisian government for the procurement of the Texan II training aircraft and related equipment and support.
One year earlier, in October 2019, the US State Department approved a possible FMS to Tunisia for twelve T-6C Texan IIs and related equipment and support for an estimated cost of USD 234 million.
