On 9 June 2022, a US Navy Sikorsky MH-60S Seahawk crashed on a Navy training range, sixty miles north-east of Naval Air Facility El Centro (CA). Fortunately all four crew members survived the crash.
The Seahawk, operated by Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3 Merlins ('SA-xx') based at Naval Air Station North Island (CA), was on a routine training flight when the accident happened. Details on the cause of the crash have not yet been released.
This is already the second crash in just two days, with a USMC Osprey crashing not far from the Seahawk site.
The MH-60S is unofficially known as the Knighthawk, referring to the preceding Sea Knight, though Seahawk is its official DoD name.
