On 25 October 2024, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic has signed a contract for the acquisition of two Embraer C-390 Millennium multi-mission transport aircraft for the Vzdušné síly armády České republiky (CzAF, Czech Air Force).

Czechia becomes the seventh nation and fourth NATO country in Europe to prefer the C-390 Millennium after Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria and South Korea. Morocco, Chile and the United Arab Emirates also showed their interest in the Millennium.

Embraer will also provide associated support which includes comprehensive training for pilots, loadmasters and technicians, spare parts and a support package to ensure the smooth integration of the aircraft into the Czech Air Force.

Defence Minister Jana Cernochová said; “Past and present history clearly shows us that the military needs to be able to transport people and heavier cargo over longer distances. Evacuations from Afghanistan and Sudan are clear evidence of this. I am therefore very pleased that we have managed to acquire aircraft for our Air Force that are capable of performing these tasks”.
