Czech Air Force selects Embraer C-390
The Ministry of Defence of Czechia has begun negotiations with Brazilian company Embraer about the potential purchase of two C-390 Millennium aircraft for the Vzdušné síly armády České republiky (CzAF, Czech Air Force).
Next to the two aircraft also associated support, which includes a complete training solution for pilots, loadmasters and technicians, spare parts and a robust entry-into-operation plan with a local presence of Embraer personnel in country for an initial period is included in the contract.
The decision to choose the Millennium is based on market research and analysis by the Ministry of Defence and the Millennium is the most ideal solution for meeting the requirements.
The Minister of Defence, Jana Černochová, said “By purchasing the Embraer C-390 we would gain another tool for managing situations, such as evacuating from crisis areas. It can also serve as a medical evacuation device and, thanks to the aerial extinguishing system, it can also be used in the fight against large-scale fires. From the deck of the C-390, among other things, all kinds of airdrops of people and parachute dropping of cargo can be carried out. A specific step was to start negotiations with the aim of achieving the lowest possible price and at the same time the shortest possible delivery date. At the same time, I am pleased that the Czech company AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE has been involved in the production of components for the Embraer C-390 aircraft for several years”.
Czechia would become the sixth nation and fourth NATO country in Europe to prefer the Embraer C-390 after Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands and Austria.
