EdA ends training role of the CASA 101
The Ejército del Aire (EdA, Spanish Air Force) ended the training role of the CASA 101 Aviojet with 793 Escadron (Escuela Basica) at Murcia/San Javier, home of the Academia General del Aire (AGA). On 29 July 2022, the type made its last training flight at the end of the Basic Flight Course 2021-2022.
With the delivery of the last Pilatus PC-21s to Murcia/San Javier on 20 June 2022, the training role of the Aviojet has been transferred to 792 Escadron. This unit operates a fleet of 24 PC-21s
The first Aviojets were delivered to the Academia General del Aire (AGA) on 17 January 1980. In total, the schools jet trainers have logged over 285,000 flight hours.
The type will remain active with the air demonstration team Patrulla Aguila (794 Esc) at Murcia/San Javier, 741 Escadron (Grupo de Escuelas de Matacán) at Salamanca/Matacán and 541 Escadron (Grupo 54/CLAEX) at Madrid/Torrejón.
