FAU stil seeking replacement for A-37
The Fuerza Aerea Uruguaya (FAU, Uruguay Air Force) is still seeking a replacement for its Cessna A-37 fleet.
Several types are being considered, like the Aero L-39NG and the Leonardo M346FA. Also, and more viable, were talks to obtain a dozen EMB314 Super Tucanos from Brazil.
Brazil has some heavy investments pending with the KC-X3 and F-39E programmes and is looking to shed some of its older aircraft. That would probably be the most cost-effective solution, but it remains to be seen if that is a worthwile proposition in the long run.
Rather, the FAU would replace types as the PC-7 and formerly operated IA-58 Pucara. And obviously in a somehwat different class as compare to a jet aircraft like the A-37. Nothing is certain yet as the FAU is still in the request for information stage, time will tell.
