Germany GAF A310 1027 Cheryl Baumgartner 640Final flight for a Luftwaffe A310

On 20 January 2021, A310-304MRTT with serial 10+27 and named "August Euler" of the Luftwaffe (GAF, German Air Force) took off from his home base for the very last time.

The Multi-Role Tanker Transporter (MRTT) was flown to Hamburg/Fuhlsbüttel (Germany) as GAF817 for storage and will be scrapped in due time.

With first deliveries of Airbus A330MRTTs to the NATO Multi-national MRTT Fleet (MMF) now underway, the first GAF A310MRTT has been withdrawn from use.

The Luftwaffe operated once seven Airbus A310s, of which four were converted to the MRTT-variant. The first A310 was delivered to the GAF in August 1991 and the last one in November 1998, all were previously used by civil airline companies.

According to the current planning, all Airbus A310s will be withdrawn from use by the 2021 year-end.
