First batch of Iraqi Air Force Super Mushshak delivered
On Monday 17 April 2023, the first batch of two Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) MFI-395 Super Mushshak basic trainer aircraft was delivered to the al-Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Iraqiya (IQAF, Iraqi Air Force). Iraqi Air Force commander Shihab Jahid Ali Hama Khan was present during the arrival of the aircraft on Iraqi soil.
Super Mushshak serial YI-201 is one of the two that was transported by C-130J-30 Super Hercules YI-306 of the 23rd Squadron which delivered the aircraft to what appears to be Balad (Martyr Brig. General Ali Falih Al-Jawiya) Air Base.
Two days later, on 19 April, two more Super Mushshaks were delivered. Serials of these two are YI-202 and YI-203.
Scramble Magazine first expected that the aircraft would operate alongside the Lasta 95N of the 201st Training squadron at Tallil (Imam Ali) Air Base, but that seems to be not the case. This is not surprising, since the Lasta 95N have hardly ever flown since their delivery in 2010. It has been reported that the MFI-395s will be operated by the 205th Training Squadron.
In November 2022, Scramble Magazine reported first on the procurement of the Super Mushshak basic trainers and the the first installment of instructors who were sent to Pakistan as a delegation of the Iraqi Air Force Air Training Directorate.
