First flight of Messerschmitt Bf-109E

It was already announced by Scramble in a news item of 24 March 2023 that its first post restoration flight was imminent.

The Messerschmitt Bf-109E ’12 red’ D-FEML (WerkNr. 1983) made that flight on 19 June 2023. The ‘Emil’ was flown from Bonn-Hangelar airport, Germany by Charlie Brown, one of the world’s most experienced warbird pilots.

The restoration of this very rare original ‘E’ version of the Bf-109 fighter has been performed by Dirk Bende and his team of MotoBende at Hangelar. The team can be seen in front of D-FEML after the successful first flight. The man in the middle with the white moustache is pilot Charlie Brown.
