First flight of yet another Chinese next-generation fighter
On 22 December 2024, four days before what we now believe is called the J-36 flew from Chengdu, the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) conducted the maiden flight of a new fighter at Shenyang.
Although only a few images are available, the aircraft is believed to be the same design that SAC, in cooperation with the 601 Institute, has been developing since the early 2000s. In 2013, a mock-up of this design was observed, designated as the JH-XX.
However, the original fighter/ground attack role may have evolved into a true multi-role design. Like the J-36, the aircraft features a tailless configuration, but this model is equipped with two engines.
Stay tuned for further updates!
